An otolaryngologist is a physician who specializes in and performs surgery on the ear, nose and throat, including endoscopic sinus procedures and laser surgery. In this practice facial plastic and head and neck surgery with reconstruction are also included. We do not treat diseases or symptoms outside of these areas unless related to an ear, nose or throat problem. All of our doctors are board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. They are also certified by many other boards and organizations. All of them are members of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. They are also active members in the Fairfax County Medical Society and the Washington Metropolitan Ear, Nose and Throat Society. Our doctors are members of the Medical Society of Virginia. The doctors are very involved in the training of pediatric and family practice residents from INOVA Fairfax Hospital and Medical College of Virginia. An audiologist is a specialist for hearing disorders. All of the audiologists in our practice are licensed as audiologists and hearing aid specialists by the Commonwealth of Virginia, and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology issued by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association. A Speech Pathologist is a certified and licensed professional educated and trained to assess and treat speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. A speech pathologist may see a patient prior to and following medical or surgical intervention to address possible changes in voice and swallowing, and provide appropriate therapy.
