Understanding the Surgery

The majority of incisions are made inside tile nose where they are invisible. In some cases, an incision is made in the area of skin separating the nostrils for easier access to cartilages, this is called an open Rhinoplasty. With either method, underlying bone and cartilage are removed or rearranged to provide a newly shaped structure. If a patient has difficulty breathing via nose, medically necessary surgery straightening a deviated septum or reducing the turbinates to improve breathing is done at the same time.
